Do you have original game and right patch for your language version? Any error message?

Keep in mind, that the US or the Steam version don't need the patch... it only applies to the European retail versions. I'm hosting both the English and the German patch version on my site here:
http://arparso.de/nexus/downloads.html#updates

If you have any other localized game version, you might need a different patch.

Are you getting any kind of error message? When does the game fail - after the launcher or doesn't even the launcher come up anymore?

If in doubt, try making a fresh reinstall of the game and apply the correct patch afterwards.

Last night I reinstalled Nexus on my desktop (Vista 32 bit).

No problem there, and the game runs fine in basic install, but when I try to patch the game to InstallWizzard 1.01 the installer quits when it tries to extract the "Nexus the jupiter incident Update 1.01 msi" file. I vagely recall that's an old problem. Does someone here know a solution for this?

It's the English version, and on original CD's.

Whap happens is that at about 80% of the extraction a popup window flashes in the topleft side of my monitor, and then the installer window (the one above here) disappears.

I had installing problems as well.

Try disabeling the UAC (user account control).
Go to configuration  screen / control pannel> user accounts and family safety.
Drop the slider / bar down  to the buttom. Restart.

This solved my installing problems, but on windows 7 64 bit.

Good luck captain Cromwell. ;)

Things are different from your situation. The basic version of the game works. Its just the patch that won't start for some reason.

I tried to patch with the German language version of the patch, and that worked. Of course, this causes its own problems so did a reinstall again with the same stumbling block on the 1.01 (english) patch.

Well, I solved it by using the German patch, and replacing the dx9.exe with a crack.
