Tweaking Original Ships
« on: October 24, 2014, 21:26:38 »
Good Afternoon,

For you veterans out there, my ignorance is about to be on display.  So forgive me.

I like the original single player campaign but ONLY want to tweak my ships SLIGHTLY.  I downloaded the game from GOG.COM and try as I may I don't have a clue how to tweak the ships in the single player campaign.  I found the 'tactics.xls' file in the mod folders but simply changing that does nothing for the single player campaign.

How do I do only that.  I don't want to change the story line, or any of the graphics or anything.  Only the specs of the ships I use.

Hi Opulus,

To make any changes to the game, you'll need to unpack it first. If you follow the below link, you should be able to download a file called 'DaTool'...

http://www.moddb.com/groups/the-nexii/downloads/elfartos-datool

I think it comes with full instructions. Once you've unpacked and removed the now defunct Nexus_00.dat file, navigate to Universe/Tactics folder where you should find TacticsTypes.ini - editing this file will achieve your desired aims but be careful as Nexus is really touchy about having it's files played with.

Better to look the fool by asking, then prove them right with ignorance.
