Been watching and reading this forum for quite some time since the official Nexus forum has been closed down.
Answering your question: I'm fine and also still looking for some news (Nexus 2 for example).

I still like to play Nexus and would like to try as a modder.
But due to my life, I haven't tried yet.

I'm slowly coming back to modding after a long hiatus, currently working exclusively in the Conquest mod, which is coming along at a slow pace (but I think that the hard part is over, so I'm hopeful)

Modding or not, I still visit this site often, though.
How about you? Still working on the freespace mod?

@martiz:
Nexus 2 - yeah, who of us isn't waiting for that? ;)
Still looking forward to their Kickstarter campaign. At least I hope it's still coming.

@Mularac:
Not a whole lot since last years release, I fear. I hate leaving unfinished work, but I get so easily distracted by other stuff and there's always so much to do, anyway :(

Right now I'm thinking about what to do with it, how to continue from what I currently have. Maybe just focus on smaller updates... like creating a new mission and introducing a new ship along with it. That's at least more manageable than trying to do everything at once. Haven't yet decided, though.

I hear the Stargate mod is back on track?

/edit:
Had a quick look at the Conquest mod - sounds really intriguing. Mixing some 4x strategy with Nexus? :D

it is, but I'm not part of it, at least for now. The Conquest mod is taking up all my effort and concentration, and trying to work on two campaign will surely overcome my tolerance for frustration.
The sad thing is that the Stargate mod's first campaign is about 70% done... and it's only lacking 3 missions and abut 6 briefings. I'll probably shift my attention to that once I achieve a stable build of the Conquest mod.

Yeah, you're talking to the right person here... I'm always working on at least three side projects simultaneously and in the end nothing ever gets finished ;)

Hey There Arparso,

Been a while, hope things have been good for you. From my side, I still keep an eye on some of the Nexus websites and am currently working on some models before going back to before going back to re-writing some core files... keep playing the ME games though so it's a little slow going ;)

Alive and... *checks*... yes, still kickin'.  ;D

Have to say, Nexus is still a twinkle in my eye. Usually I keep the game for the wee hours of a vacation because it's a game that still runs smooth on my old laptop.
On modding parts, nothing beyond updating the BSG Cyrannus system. I really should try finishing some bonus missions for the vanilla campaign, but alas, other games always distract me (and of course the unavoidable "gettin' stumped 'cause my code doesn't seem to work" bummer). :(

hello everyone.

I just got Nexus today and downloaded your skirmisher program.  I just wanted to thank you for that and say yes, some people are still playing Nexus :D

Do you have any tips for learning what is what in terms of customizing the ships load outs in your skirmisher program?  I can tell what some of them are, but it is a little confusing.  Also, I had been looking at it for a while, but now that I finally have nexus the battlestar galactica mods have all been taken down.  Has anybody heard whether the team on the Nexus BSG mod is still moving forward with development?

thanks again.

edit:I just found a link to the nexus wiki page from this forum that lists all the names of the components.  This forum is awesome :D

Hi and welcome, zerocold! Great to see new players discovering Nexus even today, after so many years :)

I'm not sure about the Galactica mod. Since NBC took down all Galactica mods, not just the one for Nexus, it has gotten pretty quiet. Last entry on their facebook page is from January... :(

The last release I know was the 4.1 Beta. Not sure, if that's still available somewhere (or do you have it already?).

Then don't forget to tell your friends about it ;)

... about the game at least ... :D

Yea, I don't really understand why NBC did that.  Seems like a foolish idea for them business wise.  And it just sucks in general.  I did manage to find a download of 4.1 beta, it took forever.  I'd be happy to post the links if anyone wants it.  I hope the guys doing the nexus project are still moving forward with the development.  The mod was awesome so far.

Does anyone still arrange games of nexus?  Id love to play online sometime.

Also, I'm having a difficult time understanding and actually using the absolute movement feature (where you hold shift).  I really want to move my ships manually around the battlefield.  But whenever I try to do this they end up going somewhere else.  The manuals explanation of how to use this function is severely lacking and I cant find any help online.  Any tips?  thanks.

Better not post any public links to the BSG mod as I don't need to get mail from NBC myself. And yeah, I don't understand their move either. I know they have their BSG online game, but the Nexus mod is hardly a competitor to that... they're in totally different genres, after all.

Not sure, if someone is still arranging games. There used to be some Hamachi or Tunngle networks around, but I'm not sure, if there's anyone still active. I've seen a Steam group with a recent announcement for online matches, though - maybe there you'll find some other players interested in multiplayer:
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/NexusTheJupiterIncident

About the movement thing: you just hold down shift and then move the marker where you want your ship(s) to go. To make the marker move forward/backward you also hold down the left mouse key and move the mouse up/down. If the marker is at the same "depth" as some other object in the scene (e.g. another ship or an asteroid), this object's marker will start to blink. This is handy for situations where you want your ships to move to some other object or just to better judge the distance you ship will go.

It's a pretty unconventional system, but you'll get the hang of it. ;)

Hi Thornard,

In brief, Nordic have now bought the game and released a patch to get the game up to date and running on modern windows. You can get the details here...

They haven't updated the game itself as such, but there are some of us reworking the models and textures in our spare time.
