DX9 error!
« on: May 31, 2011, 21:45:39 »
Hi everyone i found nexus on steam a few days ago and loved it,then i came across you tube vids of stargate, bsg mods and loads of cool stuff! So after some very scetchy bridge commander and eaw modding experiences this was easy and i got it to work i was amazed!!!
My problem now is i can make a mission in skirmisher alrighty, and im watching not to cross mission numbers then i start the game with the corresponding mod,i see my mission click on it,start,DX9 error and no big juicy space battle for me :'(
Please help i am a newb dont really know what the hell im doing!

Try to start the mission with the mission editor (in modtools), then an error log is created in the main directory if it crashes.

huh. That's the first time I see that error. Did it appear when you tried to run a mission, or before the main menu appeared?
Also, which mod are you trying to run?

I honestly can't tell. I've never encountered a "gvspace.ccp" error before.

Hi SureShotz,

Any chance you can post the mission code in question here in the thread? See if we can replicate the error?
Better to look the fool by asking, then prove them right with ignorance.

Have you ever had the following error?

Quote
Assertion failed.

File: ustrategy.cpp
Line:224

Expression: G.Generate(S)

I pops up when I made chances in a solar system file in text editor, not ingame.

Sequence:
- tinker in the systems file in a text editor
- start up either the Nexus solar system editor or Mission editor.
- error pops up when Nexus starts up.

Most of the time it solves itself when I delete the "init" save in the saves folder.

Hi Mularac the error message appeared after main menu when i tried to start a created mission in mission editor,it was the battlestar galactica beta 4.1 mod.
Hey Old dragon where do i find the mission code?
Geo iv never had an assertion failed error.
I am using an oldish laptop i dont know if this could have anything to do with it,but the single player missions that come with my mods work fine.
Thanks for the help chaps :D

Did the game work fine on other missions aside from the one you created?
And could you upload the given mission?
It's located in the folder: mods\Battlestar Galatica beta 4.1\universe\mod_missions\

The file you're looking for should have the same name as the one on the mission screen.

Also: Apply this patch to the Skirmisher so you won't have to worry about the mission numbering error ever again: http://arparso.de/nexus/files/NEXUS_Skirmisher_v0.61_bugfix.zip

huh. I can see the error now, most of the mission is empty.
The entire "RULES" block and location seem to be missing.
That's weird... Probably a problem of the Skirmisher. Try and run the Skirmisher as "administrator".

I found were your problem laids out, the skirmisher can't found the template files, for some reason.
Can you confirm this?

Do you have a folder in the mods folder named "NEXUS Skirmisher"?
if so, is in there an other folder named "_templates"?
if so, are there any files in the folder?

If all three of those questions check out I truly don't know your problem. If one of those fails, try and reinstall the Nexus Skirmisher.

Glad you guys got it sorted out :)

I suppose the Skirmisher should spit out some kind of error message when missing the templates. Actually I'm surprised it didn't just crash when trying to save the mission... now I'm curios to have a look at the ancient source code again :P

Yeah you might as well do that Aparso.

I ran into a problem similar to SureShotz's at least 3 seperate times now, and ive only witnessed aparso's skirmisher program twice (it had nothing to do with sureshotz's problem though). Again it was a .cpp file.

I simply deleted the problem mission's files and re-made it. it works for me...  :P
Epic win = when bullets dodge YOU.

Nothing can contend with that. Unless if you can travel through time and space.
