Keyswow.com = Spam attacked -- What happens now?!
« on: March 11, 2011, 04:05:50 »
As most of you know (or should know,) keyswow.com has been spammed to hell.

With the very real possibility of never returning to viable operations again. :(

I think, that before the owner(s) of the site decide to can it all, and not bother deleting (the hundreds!) of spam posts, and banning spam bots. We should start salvaging what we can and have Arparso create a "KeysWow.com Archive" placeholder/SuprerThread/Forum (whatever you call it!) between Help/Technical Support & Nexus Wiki.

Also, has anyone archived the original Nexus Forum's??

I saw a post in here indicating that it was a work-in-progress in Spring of '09 (or '10?)

To be honest, I'm not sure if it's worth the effort. Someone would have to wade through all the spam to maybe find some valuable content there, that hasn't already been replicated here or in the Wiki. The keyswow forum hasn't been a place for active discussion for at least over a year now and most stuff is likely not to be relevant anymore. With some luck you'd maybe be able to find some arcane modding advice not already referenced here or in the Wiki or on Moddb ... and you and everybody else is welcome to repost such stuff, of course.

I won't be creating a Keyswow archive. Most of all, this would only confuse other visitors and spread related content to different areas of the forum. With such an archive, interested modders would not only have to look through the modding forums here, but also scan through the archive section... which'd be a pain in the ass, I imagine.

If you or someone else wants to repost some good stuff from Keyswow here to save it from being lost just like the official Nexus forums, then please just put it in one of the already existing boards here (wherever it fits best). Also don't forget to put it in quotes and mention the original author, so it doesn't appear as if it's your own text. If you want to request a new board section, then by all means do contact me... but I won't be duplicating existing boards, nor create an archive for some other site I'm not involved in.

Seeing the demise of Keyswow has been pretty sad, actually. Has been a good and active place when I first rediscovered Nexus a few years ago (after learning of the official forum's shutdown), but when it first went down for a couple of weeks without notice, I already saw it ending like this. A couple downtimes and thousands of spam posts later, I believe it's safe to declare the Keyswow Nexus forum dead.
