A big problem with nexus skirmisher
« on: June 07, 2010, 01:53:47 »
Hi to all,I created a mission with nexus skirmisher tonight but forget to got a player fleet,so I remade one,but I give the same number and came the problem of already numbered mission.I've tried what you said on the subject about it,but after erased the files,it still crashed for the same problem,as the mods-mission's folder is empty!I've tried many fleets, many names and many numbers, but It keeps the same response, and the game crashed every times, what can you say about it?(I'm on vista)It's very angering. :cursing:

Several player had the same issue while using either windows 7 or vista, apparently, for some obscure reason, windows doesn't fully delete the missions, so that nexus can somehow still see them. Try renaming the mod's name to something else, and if that doesn't work, then I'm afraid you're gonna have to reinstall nexus in an other directory.
And do install the newest nexus skirmisher, the new one completely overlooks the numbering problem.

If your Nexus is installed in C:Program Files or C:Program Files (x86), you may want to check out two additional folders, where your mission files may have ended up:

%LOCALAPPDATA%VirtualStore

%PROGRAMDATA%

Just copy&paste these paths into the windows explorer's address bar and look for Nexus-related stuff in there. Generally I'd advise to install Nexus to a different folder, though, as both Vista and Windows 7 are rather protective about their Program Files folders and can cause all sorts of problems with older software (like Nexus).

If you manage to find the offending mission files and deleted them (or changed their mission numbers), try out this newer version of the Skirmisher:
Nexus Skirmisher fix
I've removed the whole mission numbering stuff from that build and made a small number of other improvements, so you shouldn't have the same problem again. ;)
