Thanks for the updates.  I'm trying to model a decent first-timer ship made in google sketchup, then i'm gonna texture in Wings and bring it over to LW for the rigging.  I'll take a peak at the new info when I get home from work tonight.  Its wonderful getting 1.5 pay for holidays.  And Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate it.

Wow... Just wow.  You are a hero...to me at least.  This helps a lot more than the info in the nexus tools.  I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the tutorial as this will definitely help me out.

I'll take a looksie and see if I can make heads or tails of it.  But yeah, a simple how-to would be great cuz I had an idea for a ship to put in-game but no idea how to do it lol.

Ya.  I prolly could've phrased that better.  I know how to model and that sort of thing....tho texturing is definitely NOT my strongpoint.  I am looking for something that shows proper placement of nodes and whatnot in lightwave.  I know that sketchup doesn't do points...at least I don't think it does.  and I've never used LW before.

I wanted to work on modeling my own ships.  Will any version of LW work?  I tend to do all of my modeling in SketchupPro and texturing in GIMP and Wings3D.  Also, is there a ship creation tutorial somewhere?  Or is it just the one in the tools?

apologies for the double post.  While I couldn't get the mission editor to run... I did solve my own problem.  Now, i am gonna go for trying to create a new effect.  and reading the materials didn't really help.  does anyone have a example they can put up and explain?

Well, its an error....kind of.  I'm again adding turbolasers to my nexus install (from GOG) using the weapons from the star wars mod as the base code.  The game loads fine.  but now whenever I hit ESC it crashes to desktop without a log file.  before I modded it, the esc button worked fine.

I've been searching through google and the wayback machine without luck so i figured I'd post my question here.  On the old forums was a thread called the weapon creation tutorial.  I'm trying to find it so I can figure out what I'm doing wrong on my own weapons.  Any help would be appreciated.

I'll check it out.  I've never actually made my own effects before so this should be an interesting experience.  I'll post if I figure it out.

Mod Development / Released Mods / Trouble adding a weapon
« on: April 14, 2010, 03:43:22 »
Like the title says, I'm having a bit of trouble.  I recently came across the star wars mod for nexus and absolutely loved the turbo-lasers.  So i attempted to bring in the republics blue ones.  well they work.....kinda.  I have no sound efx, and no efx period.  It has become an invisible weapon with a slight delay between firing and hitting.  then the target explodes.  no fire effect, travel effect, or impact effect.  and no sound.   I've gone over my changes and can't find anything wrong...the only thing i seem to be missing is the ani reference.  but i can't find it in the original mod.  any ideas?

Well, i did a little research into making forums.  Found a site that seems simple to use.  Drop me a line if anyone is interested in making a backup forum.  And i too hope that the keyswow forum comes back up
