Title: forum.keyswow.com - Nexus forum down?

Does anyone know what happened to the forum at keyswow.com? Seems down now. First I was getting SQL error messages, now it's gone for good. :(

I don't have any email address of the administrators, so  I've got no clue, what is going on. If someone knows, please send me message...

i noticed it about six days ago.  was gonna post some obj files and hope some one would be able to texture/convert them to nexus.  not sure what happened though.

I just hope, it get's fixed ASAP. That was one of the last active Nexus communities out there... would be a shame to see it go like that :(

That's pretty strange nevertheless. Someone must have already noticed the problem, since the SQL errors from a few days ago are gone now... so someone must have already changed something. However, I simply don't have a clue, why they just don't put up a "Sorry, forum is down" notice at least. If they're interested in keeping the forum and community running, they better fix the problem soon or at least inform the members, that it'll get fixed rather sooner than later. Not doing anything at all is just not a good sign, I fear.

Well, i did a little research into making forums.  Found a site that seems simple to use.  Drop me a line if anyone is interested in making a backup forum.  And i too hope that the keyswow forum comes back up

Hi Folks,

Still no news from Sargoth yet (still trying though). But as for new forums, if Keyswow is unofficially dead and not simply feeling a bit poorly, then we do have the beginnings of a new forum on ModDb.

Not long before the Keywow forum arose, a small group of us got together and created 'The Nexii' group there (you can find it here http://www.moddb.com/groups/the-nexii (http://'http://www.moddb.com/groups/the-nexii')) in an attempt to get folks together again and the forum was started as part of it.

EDIT:

Just received reply from Sargoth, no actual info yet... but he's going to check in with Ionstorm, the guy who got the site up there for us to begin with.

Recently recieved word from Sargoth...

Our Nexus forums should be back soon. Apparently, a member of the keyswow host broke the SQL server which caused so much despair.  Ionstorm then started kicking rear and got it fixed ( evening 26/7/09)... and then they deleted our forum! So it looks like we'll be losing a month or two as they resort to a back up.

The dark night is almost over, dawn approaches...

Guess those changes to the forum he's making must be pretty big. Although I haven't actually recieved a reply, the 'breakdown' message did change to something more detailed after my last email, so he does know we're here.

But as Ionstorm's created the forum and running it for free (and probably not getting anything back for his troubles), we'll just have to roll with it. Enjoy the good times (post, post, post) and sit through the bad times (twiddling thumbs, lah-de-dah-de-dah).

yep. We should start using this site as a general nexus fan site... I love the format of it, and so it'll be better than having two separate forums that are both extrictly related to nexus.

The only possible 'quibble' that I can think of about the skirmisher site is that it lacks something some of the other forums that I visit have. That being when your typing up a reply, those forums have a little box where you can scroll through that threads most recent posts. It might just be me being lazy, but I find it really helpfull to be able to review those posts - especially where I'm answering a question or two.

Either that or my memory's starting to go as the grey scales arrive, lol.

Is this something that you could look into Arparso?

Yeah, that bothers me as well. This free version of the forum software actually doesn't support "advanced" features such as those you just mentioned (amongst others, like private messages or proper quoting).... so I'd have to upgrade to the non-free version or replace the forum entirely by a different package. I'll most likely go with the second option, but I'll first need to investigate what software to use and how to transfer the existing topics to that. This will take a while... :(

Even if there were any news, I'm kind of hesitant to spend my time there again. I'm not convinced anymore, that whatever I'm gonna put there is going to stay online and available to others. There's no point in contributing when the forum is THAT unreliable... It's offline for almost two months now without any word about it whatsoever.

By all accounts, Ionstorms been very busy just of late, but the forum is now fully operational again.

Can't say I'm too excited, though. Almost 3 months of downtime with no warning beforehand, no explanation during the downtime and no guarantee, that this won't happen again. He may have been really busy, but at least he could have answered one of your mails or posted a more useful downtime message to keep us informed about what's going on. That would have cost only a minute... he can't have been THAT busy 24h a day for 3 months nonstop :(
