Is there a guide for how the colour scales work in Nexus?

You mean the heat/heatB stuff? That'd be this scale, from 0 to 1.5:

0 - black
0.25 - red
0.5 - yellow
0.75 - white
1 – blue-white
1.25 - violet
1.5 - black
