Mod Development / Released Mods / Nexus pulsar and EMP Weapon
« on: October 05, 2016, 23:08:21 »
Hello all.  I've been busy with personal matters for a while now.

 I'm looking to update my mod and possibly sell it on GOG to give me the motivation to work on it. It was designed to ad emp weapon that damages all systems at once, but be just as dangerous as the enemy and you. The EMP can't go through shields and it does very light damage to them.

Also, the pulsar (compressed plasma charge) makes armor useless. Also, it can be used for shields and hull at the same time. It corrects an annoying design flaw in the game.

Sometimes, I've fried myself because the shields went down just before it hit the target.   ;)

General Discussion / Nexus in linux
« on: December 11, 2011, 00:39:50 »
I'v been busy with other projects. So, I haven't worked on my mod(phaser mod/easy mode0. Also, no testers leaves me dead in the water. So, i'v been working out for to get nexus running on playonlinux. I'v not been able to so far. I'm working on a playonlinux installer for 'empire earth gold edition' from GOG. So, I can apply that to nexus.  I'll be on playonlinux forums if anyone wants to contact me.

I'm busy making a script install for playonlinux for nexus. So, the mod will not be worked on until someone wants to playtest it. I have a video of the phaser and photon torpedo additions. Looks amazing!  :)

Took me a while to find a video converter. See the topic on nexus on POL for more info. I'll post the video on youtube when I get around to it. I make one of the emp torpedo after that. Bye.

I scanned those files. It found three infected files. NO!    Trust windows security. NO!     Linux only for multi-player. Windows only gets a few mins at a time on the internet to do updates. One virus every got on linux in ten years, the script failed since it didn't have the install password. Heh, as I said linux for nexus.

The more people post on wineHQ the better.

I got farcry2 to work with a linux program called playinlinux on suse 11.4   Took a few tricks to get it working.  Also, I made a post on the wine forums. Playonlinux uses install scripts.  You could study the install script to learn how to install nexus.

I read the details on winehq. Nexus has some security software that interferes with making it work in linux. If enough people here post on wine forums, they might fix the bugs that causing the problem.

Help / Technical Support / new sounds to the missions
« on: July 08, 2011, 06:40:29 »
The new weapon sound effect from the original battlestar galectia tv series sounds strange when played in game. It's distorted. Can anyone explain this? I'v tried increasing the sound volume to no effect.

General Discussion / fraps videos
« on: July 01, 2011, 08:23:53 »
I can make a fraps videos from my mod, but their uncompressed and huge. What's the best linux or mswin conversion utility?

Are you running OpenOffice in Windows or Linux?

Openoffice in windows.

Quote
Or maybe your macro security settings prevent the macro from running? You can change them under:
Tools->Options->OpenOffice.org->Security->Macro Security
(I've set mine to medium, so I'm asked to enable/disable macros when opening a file with macros in it)

I set it to medium. Nothing happens. :p

Can you make a video and show it to me?    How you do it?

The reinstall is complete with nexus. The mod is up and running again. I have a great new sound from the original battlestar galectia tv series for the pulsar cannon. I have two videos. I have to get them compressed first.

15
How do you run the macro? I've tested and worked with it both in 3.2.0 and 3.3.0 versions of OpenOffice and never had issues with the progress bar or the .ini creation itself.

tools>macros>run macro>
Library:
tachictypes_vanillasp>standard>ExportToIni>
Macro name:
main

Nothing happens on any of the macro names. I'm using a test directory. mods/phasermod/_work/parms/tachictypes_vanillasp
This would remove all the other additions i'v made to tachictypes.

>As for missing items: my spreadsheet is a direct copy of the original Excel spreadsheet included in the game's modding tools - I only ported the original macro, because that wouldn't work in OpenOffice. Everything that's missing in my spreadsheet would also be missing in the original Excel file, so blame the original developers for that one ;)

Yea, that's what I meant. We need to expand on it. As it now, it's no good for my mod and likely others.

Has anyone tried nexus in linux wine?  MSwin is not something I'd do multi-player on.  Also, I like to be able to use the voice chat. Typing is just way to slow.  Can you do the LAN multi-player for nexus on linux?

18
You said it shows a progress bar. I can't see anything happening. Also, the original is missing other common terms used in nexus.

I"m using open office  3.3.0

Help / Technical Support / Bolt effects
« on: June 27, 2011, 08:54:11 »
If you the watch the original battlestar galectia or the star wars movies(sci-fi movies etc), you see bolt effects from various weapons.  I'v been trying to create the effects with no success. I keep getting comet effects. How do you create a bolt effect in nexus?

Help / Technical Support / adding sounds to missions
« on: June 26, 2011, 22:37:20 »
I found a simpler way. I just did:

track->stereo track to mono
Amplify->9db
Effect->fade out(end 0.1sec)
Export->WAV format->filename

In game, it sounds strange.  I'll try your method.

Help / Technical Support / adding sounds to missions
« on: June 26, 2011, 21:42:28 »
>Music has to be in ogg, regular sound files have to be in wav. I'm terrible sorry, I got myself confused. It can be in 32 or 16 bit, the only restriction is that it has to be mono, not stereo.

Audacity loads the flv sound in stereo format(Left and right channel). Likely, it saves the wav in stereo format.  So, that's why nexus is crashing. I have to convert it to wav mono format. Do you know how in Audacity?

I checked audacity.  I used export in "wav 16bit bit PCM" format. I'm trying the ogg format to see if it works.

I used a linux program called Audacity. I did the final edits and sounds good. It outputs in uncompressed wav format. Does it need to be compressed?   I tried replacing the sound phaser sound. Nexus crashed.

Also, has anyone though of hacking nexus to get these values higher.

Help / Technical Support / no cd crack
« on: June 25, 2011, 21:59:55 »
I need a nexus crack that allows me to play the game without the cd. I don't trust any download on the internet. Does anyone know of valid one?  Without any viruses or spyware that could be uploaded here.

>What type of modification? Regular or campaign based?

campaign based(phaser mod).

I'v already done that. It worked. I added the new efx and replaced an existing sound slot. I can't add any new slots without nexus crashing.
